Nail of the Day: December 27, 2011 and a new top coat!

I got these bad boys for Christmas (Thank you, Lauren!) and couldn't wait to get them on, even though they kind of clashed with my sweater!  These are the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips in Laced Up.  They were super easy to apply, no dry time and claim to last up to 10 days, so we'll see!  I'll be pretty busy this week and weekend, so I might just be able to hold out 10 days (So that'll be January 5, 2012!)

I also used a coat of this top coat.  It's a brand new one, also by Sally Hansen, called called Diamond Flash.  It claims to be high shine, anti-chip and fast drying.  I really liked the Mega-Shine, but it took so long to dry, so I switched to the Orly Sec'N Dry, which dried fast, but didn't have the shine I like.  Enter this beauty!  It's awesome!  Dries to the touch super quickly and had amazing shine!

Happy Lace and Primping!

Subscription Review: December Birchbox

It's Birchbox Time again.  This month's Birchbox is supposed to be all about being ready for holiday frolicking (their verbiage, not mine, so take it as you will!)  I'm so excited to try these products:
(Photo from the Birchbox Website.  www.birchbox.com)
EBOOST Orange Natural Energy Booster
Olie Biologique Huile Moderne
Showstoppers Designer Fashion tape
Benefit the POREfessional
Harvey Prince Yogini
Jouer Moisterizing Lipgloss in Birchbox Pink

Notable products from November Birchbox:
  • I loved the Atelier perfume; however, it's $170 for a 200ml bottle, so that's not in my price range.
  • I also loved the Borghese Mud Mask!  I'm a fan of face masks anyway and I loved this one.  Best of all, I've used it about 3 times and there's still a considerable amount left!
  • I used the Zoya Nail polish in my December 5, 2011 Nail of the day blog post!  I got plenty of compliments on this color, even with the different color ring finger.
That's all for now.  check back next month for a reveiw of December Birchbox products!

Hair color!

After the ever darker hair coloring spiral I was on recently, from which the only recovery was to strip my hair to get it lighter, I vowed to hold off on coloring for a while. However, after stripping my hair, it was way too red and I just couldn't stand it any longer!

L'Oreal Feria T53 Moonlit Tourtoise

Goofy name, but this stuff did the trick! No red, and, though my first reaction was that it's not dark enough, I know it is just dark enough.
Let me know what you think. Too dark? Not dark enough?

Nail of the day: December 12, 2011

I told you I'd be ending up with more metallics on.  This is called Swing Time by China Glaze.

Nail of the day: December 9, 2011

I painted these for Lauren's birthday party. I was inspired by this color by my friend Christina's gel polish manicure. I absolutely love is color and will wear it a lot until Christmas!

China Glaze Ruby Pumps, Seche Clear base coat, Orly Sec N'Dry topcoat

I love it! We'll see how I feel when it's time to take it off! Until then...

Happy holiday glitter polish primping!

Nail of the day: December 5, 2011

I wasn't going to post this, but I've gotten mixed reactions on this latest nail look - some people really liked it and some were confused and others thought I just forgot something!  I shot a quick photo before I took it off. I want to give my nails a break and strengthener treatment before I put the red glitter polish on for Lauren's party!
So here's my nail of the day :

Zoya Izzy Nail Polish 2 coats, with 2 coats of Sally Hansen Extreme Wear in Rockstar Pink on the ring finger, all topped with 1 coat of Orly Sec N'Dry.

I like just doing the glitter on the ring fingers, because it's much less of a hassle to take it off 2 nails than 10!  It just adds a little sparkle without being over the top glitter.
Anywho, I'm loving it!  What do you think?  Feel free to comment below!

Wishing you happy primping with a bit of glitter on top!

Christmas Wish List!

There have been plenty of beauty items I've been scoping out recently and I thought I'd share those that made it to my very own Christmas Wishlist.
The number one item is a set of Sigma Brushes.  My makeup brushes currently consist of a mélange of different drugstore brushes (not that that's bad) but I've never had a nice set of brushes.  This is the Make Me Crazy Brush Set from Sigma's Make Me Up collection.

Now I know this will be on a lot of Wishlists this year, so my chances of getting one are pretty slim, but I can dream - It's the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette.  I checked out the Naked Palette when it was super popular and found that it really lacked the matte shades that I love to mix with shimmery shades.  But this palette has both matte and shimmer and is gorgeous, so Santa, if you're reading this...

I've also discovered the brand Tarte recently and would love to try more things from them.  I have a sample size Lipsurgence crayon, which is everything a Clinique Chubby Stick should be, but isn't!  I also have a gel liner that is beautiful.  I'd love to try any of their Amazonian Clay Blushes!
My last beauty wish is this clipless curling iron.  I've seen a ton of tutorials on YouTube using one of these and I would love to try it.  I just have to make sure it doesn't end up leaving at my best friend, Lauren's, house, like my last two curling irons!

And just for fun, here's one non-beauty gift idea.  Boots.  My boots that I've been wearing since it got cold enough that I couldn't justify wearing flip-flops anymore, which in Texas was just the past week or two, are about 3 years old and may be biting the dust after this fall and winter.  I'd like to post a picture, but I'm not really sure what I want, but when I see it I'll know!

My wishlist was the easy part.  Now to figure out what to get my husband - ideas are welcome!
What are you hoping for for Christmas?  Feel free to comment below!

Very Merry Priming and Happy Polish to all of you!
