Satin Perfect Epliator

As most of you know, I'm a Bzzagent, which means I get the opportunity to try out new products, sometimes completely for free. I love to be able to try things out and share them with you. I recently received the Phillips Satin Perfect Epilator for free from Bzzagent.  Now, one small request. I wanted to give you the most accurate review possible, so please don't judge my white legs and pits!  This is exactly as it came to me, which is what you would get from the store or online if you were to purchase one.

I was so excited to use this. I'd used an Epilator years ago and didn't hate it, but found it too gimmicky for my tastes as it had a freezer piece attachment to reduce the pain. I followed the instructions exactly, so here is my leg before:

What everyone wants to know is, "does it hurt?". Well, yes it does, but it's relatively quick and I have a few tricks to help out. On that note, this is what my leg looked after the first epilation:

You'll notice red spots at the pores. I like to call it angry legs. This is where the hair was pulled out and is reduced with each use, at least in my case. The main area I had issue with was my underarms. I forgot to get a before shot, but this is after:

Yes, that's blood. Well, I really wanted this to be the all over solution, so I took to the Internet to see what I'd done wrong. My conclusion was that I was sweaty, and not surprisingly as I was about to pull out my underarm hair by the root. The solution is to dust a little baby powder on the area before elipating. It works like a charm!
My first epilation lasted about 3-4 days, but after that it lasts about 2 weeks.

I few other tricks to avoid some of the common complaints. First, make sure you hold the skin taunt as you epilate. Then, I like to use a post-epilation lotion (available at Sally's Beauty Supply) as it assists with the irritation, soothing the skin. Also, make sure you exfoliate between epilations. This avoids getting ingrown hairs. When you epilate, the hair continuously grows back less course, and sometimes doesn't have the stiffness to break the surface causing an ingrown hair. Exfoliating takes care of that. I just use my regular body wash on a exfoliating mitt.

I received a few other things in this package. First, there were four different head attachments. One was a shaver, that allows you to ensure the hair is not too long for epilating. The other three were different epilating heads. Is like the standard head without the special rollers. I also got a pair of lighted tweezers. I like the lighted part, but the tweezers were just not sharp enough to do anything with. The last thing I got was a carrying case that fits everything, which is pretty convenient.

Overall, I'm very happy with my Epilator, have been using it since, and don't see going back to my razor any time soon. I'm looking forward to summer and smooth legs!

Happy hair-free primping!
