imPress Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails Review

I received these complimentary to test from Influenster's VoxBox program. I was super excited, as like we all have, I'd seen the commercial with Nicole Scherzinger. I tried them for a few days but then had to remove them because the pattern wasn't appropriate for s meeting I was attending. They were super easy to apply. I just prepped my nails with Orly Primetime, which is basically isopropyl alcohol and citric acid that ensures the nail is free of oils and residue.
These are awesome, and super accessible, available at CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, etc. At $5.99 for plain colors and $7.99 for patterns, and with 36 colors and patterns, they're definitely worth a look. I also received a coupon for a $1.00 off in my VoxBox, so I will really put them to the test next time, and include more specific application directions and progress pictures!

Happy Press-On Primping!

Revlon Colorstay Nail Polish

I got a couple of these new Revlon Colorstay Nail Enamels. The claim is that it's a high quality nail enamel that offers a gel-like formula with high shine and up to 10 days of shatter-proof wear. (information obtained from Revlon.com)

I have Velvet Rope - a rich creamy deep red, Blue Slate - a creamy, slightly teal colored blue, and Provenance - a creamy muted lilac. Yes, they're all creamy. Despite my newfound affection for metallics, I couldn't resist the richness in appearance of these cream texture ones! I tried Velvet Rope when I was changing my color each week, so I'll try it again along with the other two for my blog - to test ease of application, dry time, shine, and wear.

First up Provenance. It looks a little grayish in the bottle, but applies as a muted lilac. The application of these is a little thicker than your average nail polish, but not unworkable. Just make sure you have enough polish on the brush to just coat the nail, but not too much or it will never dry. On to that matter, as long as you apply 2 not too thick coats, the dry time is average.

Here is end end result with 2 costs and Sally Hansen Diamond Flash Top Coat. I applied this on 1/12/12, and will keep it on until 1/21/12.

Happy long lasting, high shine primping!

Subscription Review: Influenster VoxBox

I signed up for VoxBox after the holiday boxes went out, so I didn't think I'd be getting one. However, shortly after signing up at www.influenster.com I got an email that there were some extra boxes and I had been chosen to receive one. I was so excited! Influenster is a word of mouth marketing company that sends members free product samples to test and review. There's qualification factors, but it's worth a looksie! So the contents of my Holiday 2011 VoxBox:

Softsoap Coconut Scrub: I really am in love with my Johnson's Calming Body Wash, but if you like bar soap, I found it to be moisturizing enough for a bar soap.

Montagne Jeunesse Fruit Smoothie Deep Pore Cleansing Mask: This stuff smelled good enough to eat, but I refrained from actually tasting it. After using it, my skin felt clean and taut, but not overly so. These masks are affordable and available at Walmart.

Mentors Pure Fresh Chewing Gum: I love this gum. It's got a great, long lasting flavor and the packaging keep it from spreading it's delicious minty flavor to everything in my bag like average foil wrapped gum!

Lärabar in Apple Pie: New favorite snack of all time! According to www.lärabar.com, LÄRABAR is a delicious blend of unsweetened fruits, nuts and spices. Made from whole food, each flavor contains no more than nine ingredients. Each one that I've had so far uses dates as the base, which pack a mean punch of potassium, which is great for someone like me who craves something sweet after the gym and is prone to muscle cramps.

imPress Press on Manicure: These seem great in theory, but I've not had the opportunity really put them to the test, as I've been sick and not up to my ordinary typing and dishes and multiple bathings (myself and the toddler.) I did also receive a coupon for more, so you can bet there will be another blog post where they are put to the test coming soon!

NYC Liquid Lipshine in New York Nude: I also love this stuff. It smells great and lasts an average amount of time for a regular lipgloss. The color is perfect both over something and on bare lips, although I have a darker mauve color to my natural lip, so if you have lighter lips it might not be a good color for you. They have a decent range of colors and I've seen them at both CVS and Walgreens as well as Wal-Mart, and they're very affordable.

Happy New Year Primping!

Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips Update

So, as promised, I left the nail strips on for a full 10 days! I had my doubts, but the results were better than I expected!

You can see a huge chip in the ring finger nail and both index fingers, but I think they look darn good for almost 2 weeks! I'll definitely be in these more often.

Happy primping my friends.
